Scalabrini Bexley came together for an afternoon tea in honour of one of our most cherished community members, Father Adriano Pittarello. Seated among residents, families, staff and friends, the gathering was a warm celebration of his 59-year ministry and 13 years of dedicated service right here at Bexley.

For nearly six decades, Father Adriano has been a spiritual beacon to Italian migrants across the Archdiocese of Sydney, offering pastoral care and regular Masses. His kindness and generosity have nurtured faith and connection among generations of families.Beloved at Scalabrini Bexley
Since 2012, our on-site chapel has echoed with his gentle voice each week, providing comfort and counsel to residents. His presence in La Piazza courtyard and around the village has been a constant reminder of community, compassion and belonging.Reaching Beyond Bexley
On Sundays, many join him at Rockdale and Earlwood churches for Mass, where his warmth and welcoming spirit continue to draw parishioners from across southern Sydney.
Looking Ahead: A New Chapter in Italy
Though Father Adriano’s farewell marks the close of an era at Scalabrini Bexley, his journey of faith is far from over. He will return to Italy to serve as Rector of the Shrine of Our Lady del Castillo in Rivergaro, Piacenza Province, bringing his pastoral gifts back to his homeland.
