The Harbourside development on Lyons Road, Drummoyne has taken an important step forward, with the New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment granting development consent for the State Significant Development Application (SSDA).
This milestone reflects months of close collaboration between Scalabrini Communities, the City of Canada Bay Council and the Department of Planning to ensure the project delivers long-term benefits for Drummoyne while respecting the needs of local residents.
From the outset, Scalabrini Communities has committed to working openly and constructively with Council and the Department to address concerns and incorporate feedback. Issues raised during the process have been carefully considered, with solutions agreed that not only meet regulatory requirements but also create better outcomes for the community.

The Harbourside development will bring a new generation of Independent Living Units (ILUs) and community facilities to the area, creating a place where older Australians can live with dignity and connection. At the same time, the project will improve public access to the waterfront, ensuring that the benefits extend well beyond the boundaries of the site itself.
The approval signals confidence not only in the project itself but also in the collaborative way it has been shaped. By engaging early, listening carefully and adjusting plans where needed, Scalabrini has been able to demonstrate that development can be both ambitious and considerate, balancing progress with protection of community values.
Scalabrini Communities has also made a clear commitment to continue working alongside residents throughout the process. Construction will inevitably bring some disruption, but every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience and keep the community fully informed.
